Tegaserod occurs as 5-HT₄ agonist used for the management of constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). These are interesting to note that tegaserod appears to exist as clinically effectual within women merely. These are presently marketed by Novartis under the trade list Zelnorm (e.g. inside U.s.) or even Zelmac (various more countries).

Tegaserod occurs as motility stimulant. Curative result is achieved across activation of Five-HT_Quaternary receptors of the enteric nervous system in the gastrointestinal tract. Tegaserod causes gi motility & a peristaltic reflex, and even too reduces abdominal infliction (Rossi, 2004).

Tegaserod recently received FDA approval to exist as marketed for each men & women for Chronic Constipation.
